Austin Theatre for Youth is a professional theatre which creates
enriching, relevant, and entertaining theatre experiences for the young people and families of Central Texas.
Austin Theatre for Youth illuminates the richness and diversity of the human condition through stimulating theatre experiences which challenge young people to enter new worlds and explore new possibilities.

What We Believe
About Theatre... Theatre is an event which celebrates life. It is not a place or thing,
but an act - an interchange that has consequence. It is the means by which actors and audiences choose together to participate in the world: to recognize it, to experience it, and ultimately, to understand it. Theatre is an "occasion."
About Young People... We have a concern for - and a delight in - the minds, hearts, and
imaginative life of children. We respect their intelligence and perceptions; we value the importance of allowing them to reach and discover. We say to our young audience member:
"Come into the fascinating and entertaining world of the theatre. We will lead you on a journey of the imagination. . . one that invites you to wonder at your very own important place in our society."
The future belongs to those who can imagine it.

The experience of live theatre can help shape how young people think and feel about issues in their lives and how they value themselves and others. Young people recognize themselves, their potential, and are challenged by what they experience. Theatre helps young imaginations explore new ideas and discover new feelings. It promises young people a greater understanding of the world in which they live.
